Spring Cleaning

Is spring arriving where you are?  Here at home, the days are still trying to decide if it is going to be chilly or warm. We rarely have perfectly pleasant spring days, those cool in the morning, perfect 72 degrees by afternoon, with a light breeze. Here in Oklahoma, we get a LOT of wind (you know, ‘wind sweeping down the plains’ and all).  But it is most definitely spring here.  Which means it’s time for spring cleaning!

I use this recipe for any non-porous surface.  I’ll mix up the oils sometimes, using a germ-busting blend if we are cleaning up sickies or something warmer for the fall.

This is the easiest thing to mix up too.  I always have a gallon or two of vinegar in the cabinet.

Just remember to shake well before you spray since it is oils and water.  And since this isn’t diluted, I recommend keeping kids away from the surfaces for a little bit so they can evaporate and not end up undiluted on the skin.  And you know the drill: test on a small patch of whatever surface you are spraying on to make sure it won’t damage it. Got it?  Good.

In a 25-oz spray bottle, add half water, half vinegar.  Then add 2-3 drops of liquid dish soap.
Then add your essential oils:
7 drops Lemon (Citrus limon)
5 drops Lime (Citrus x aurantifolia)
2 drops Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens)

Shake well and spray!  Smells clean and fresh!
