Morning Wellness

Well, yesterday we talked about how to stay well with a recipe that would work well for nighttime.  But sometimes, especially when it’s cold, we need something to get us moving in the morning!  So this is a wellness recipe designed to perk you up and get you groovin’ through your day.  I have it going right now and it’s AH-MAZING!

Let’s get to it, shall we?
Since I have small children in my house, this one is also safe for children, but effective enough for adults.  You’ll love it!

Oh, this one is so great!  Bright and sparkly, perfect for a winter morning!

Diffuser Recipe

2 drops Grapefruit (Citrus x paradisi)
2 drops Lemon (Citrus limon)
1 drop  Black Pepper (Piper nigrum)
1 drop White (Silver) Fir (Abies alba)
1 drop Bergamot Mint (Mentha citrata) (this link is to Aromatics Int’l.  Plant Therapy has carried it in the past as an OOTM, so if you are making an order with them, you might contact them and see if they have any left.  PT has free shipping, which is kinda my favorite!)

Again, if this is too many drops for your diffuser, make use of those empty essential oil bottles and make a master blend and add the right amount of drops of that into your diffuser.

Substitutions:
No one has every oil, so I’ll try to put subs with my recipes in case you don’t have everything but you need to try this recipe TODAY. 🙂

Grapefruit and Lemon – if you are looking for something to wake you up in the morning, these two are my favorite, but Lime is also nice (I always get Steam Distilled because it doesn’t cause phototoxicity.  Not necessary for diffuser blends, but I’m only going to keep one in my stash, so I want one safe for topical too).  Any citrus will do the job of boosting the immune system and warding off germs, but these three are the best for energy.

Black Pepper – Oh, black pepper.  Such an under-appreciated oil.  I forgot how much I love this one.  In this blend, it has this spiciness but it’s really soft and hidden with the bright citrus.  So it doesn’t feel like you stuck your nose on the pepper shaker.  It’s warming and energetic.  Unfortunately, the subs for this oil aren’t as safe for kids.  Ginger Root or Eucalyptus would be good choices, but are not safe for kids.  If you don’t have it, and you need it to be safe for kids, just leave it out and it will be ok.  But definitely put it on your wish list!

White or Silver fir can be subbed with any pine, fir, or spruce you have available, including Douglas Fir that I highlighted yesterday.

Bergamot Mint adds a little depth to the blend, and I’d use something like spearmint (but maybe a toothpick drop because it can easily overpower a blend) or Eucalyptus dives.
