Lemon Myrtle – June Oil of the Month

Ok, guys.  I’m not usually a big buyer or lover of non-kid-safe oils.  Because there’s such a limited usage in a house full of kiddos.  But, this one.  Oh my heavens.  So amazingly delicious!  It smells more lemon-y than lemon essential oil, guys.  It smells exactly like a lemon drop!  Yum!

So, here’s what you need to know about Lemon Myrtle (Backhousia citriodora):

Kid Safe: no
Extraction Method: Steam Distilled
Strength of Aroma: strong (and delicious!)
Cautions: Max topical dilution of 0.5% (or 2-3 drops per ounce of carrier oil)

This oil packs some serious energy.  Every time I get a whiff I feel awake and peppy! So here are a couple of recipes to take advantage of that:

Pick-Me-Up Shower Steam
(This is a master blend.  You will use 2 drops on the shower floor in front of your feet.  Check on an inconspicuous area first!)
This blend is NOT safe for children under the age of 10.

10 drops Lemon Myrtle (Backhousia citriodora)
5 drops Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis ct. 1,8-cineole)
3 drops Peppermint (Mentha x piperita) OR Eucalyptus dives (Eucalyptus dives) [E. dives is a little more gentle]

Mix in a bottle and put two drops on the shower floor in the morning for an instant pick-me-up!

No More Jet Lag Personal Inhaler
You could use this as a pick-me-up in the middle of the day too, but I needed a jet lag recipe and this one is perfect! Since this one is a little more frequent use, I added some Opopanax as a skin soother to protect the mucus membranes.
This blend is NOT safe for children under the age of 10.

5 drops of Lemon Myrtle (Backhousia citriodora)
5 drops Opopanax (Commiphora guidotti)
2 drops Eucalyptus dives (Eucalyptus dives)

I am totally in love with this oil!  I’ve put it in soap and I’m thinking of all kinds of recipes to use it in.  It would be great in citrus recipes, allergy recipes, immune support…..  So amazing.

Get yours here (through June 30, 2017)
