Botanical Bedtime

Hello fellow oil lovers!

Today’s a quick post, just to share a recipe I’m kinda in love with for bedtime.  I just kinda threw this together tonight, knowing my Frankincense is about to be at the end of its shelf life (Do you know the shelf life of your oils?  You should!  I’ll talk more about it next week so stay tuned!) so I’m being more conscientious about using it.  I normally reach for F. carterii, because to me, F. frereana is a little spicier smelling and not quite as smooth.  But, I really like it with the mellow citruses and the brighter Douglas Fir.  Blends well.  And great for helping you relax close to bedtime.  Not quite a knock-me-out blend, but a good winding-down blend, if that makes sense.

Diffuser Blend
**safe for kids!**

2 drops Douglas Fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii)
1 drop Frankincense frereana (Boswelia frereana)
1 drop Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis)
1 drop Yuzu (Citrus junos)

Blend together and diffuse, or add to 1 oz of rubbing alcohol or vodka in a glass spritzer bottle and use as linen spray.

Substitutions:

You can use Bergamot in place of either Orange or Yuzu.  Other citruses won’t be as calming as those three options.

You can use any Frankincense you have – F. carterii or F. serrata (Note: F. serrata may not be safe for children.  Depends on the batch and chemical constituent levels)

And you definitely should get some Douglas Fir (Pine), but if you don’t have it and can’t wait, you can sub Hemlock Spruce or Siberian Fir.

Nighty Night!
